Description of the project

The Incisa-Valdarno section consists of two lots that will involve the widening of a further 18.5 km of motorway between the Incisa and Valdarno junctions, in continuation with the widening in Lot 2B+1S. The design has been submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure and consent is awaited.

The project is in the Tuscany region and regards the provinces of Florence and Arezzo and the municipalities of Reggello (FI), Figline – Incisa V. (FI), San Giovanni V. (AR) and Terranuova Bracciolini (AR).

The project envisages the construction of a new 3-lane carriageway at the beginning of the section, which coincides with the Bruscheto tunnel, which cannot be widened in situ. This will result in use of the existing carriageways by south bound traffic until km 319+710. Widening of the next section, through to the Valdarno toll station, will take place in situ.

The most important infrastructure consists of the new viaduct over the River Arno and the Bruscheto tunnel, both located on the new road included in Lot 1.

Once completed, the widened motorway will ensure that the country’s main artery (the A1 Milan – Naples) is able to meet current mobility needs, thanks to a modernised motorway capable of meeting ever higher safety standards.
