The Genoa Environmental Observatory is responsible for overseeing the compliance of the A7-A10-A12 road and motorway junction adaptation project with environmental regulations. It assists the Italian Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea in ensuring that the project meets environmental conditions, manages excavated materials properly, and carries out effective mitigation actions. Additionally, the observatory ensures transparency and information dissemination about these activities. The Observatory includes representation from the Liguria Region, the City of Genoa, ARPA Liguria, and the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea.
It explores the realisation of the work and its environmental effects from an environmental perspective
Upon request by the Italian Ministry of the Environment (MATTM), it provides technical opinions on the compliance with the requirements dictated in the Use Plan measure (dva-2003-14268 of 19/06/2013) and in Ministerial Decree no. 28 of 23 January 2014 and in further environmental assessment measures
It supervises the monitoring of the environmental components with which the work will interfere and indicates any necessary initiative
It ensures transparency, dissemination and accessibility of information to the public and to the local authorities involved
It provides all the information necessary for populating the databases of the MATTM Environmental Assessment Portal.
It periodically informs the MATTM about ongoing activities
