Autostrade per l'Italia commitments
According to Article 8 (“Information and consultation with the public”) of Legislative Decree 194/05 “The implementation of Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise”, Autostrade per l’Italia is publishing provisional NOISE MAPPING and ACTION PLANS on the Internet. For the final versions any observations or comments from the public are awaited: these contributions will be taken into consideration if they are received by 14/07/08 at the email address:

Observations received after the above mentioned term will be taken into account in next revisions of the Noise Mapping and Action Plans set out in Italian Legislative Decree No. 194/05.
As well as the Noise Mapping and Action Plans, on this website Autostrade per l’Italia publishes a compendium of the PCAR presented in June 2007 that aims to give the public more comprehensive information on the improvement works it intends to implement.
Autostrade per l’Italia has also implemented many noise correction works on the motorway sections it manages, thereby anticipating the legal requirements and resolving the most critical situations. In this regard the solutions adopted (barriers, partial/total covers, sound-proofed windows) in the “Genova pilot project” are of particular significance, being carried out in collaboration with the Environment Ministry and the Genova Prefecture and City Council. This practice, which is still under way, not only serves to develop more effective sound-reduction techniques but also planning procedures, noise testing and calculations, subsequently acknowledged by law.
The significant figures of this project are:
- 83.000 m2 of noise abatement barriers
- 84.000 m2 of baffles and covering solutions
- 434.000 m2 of low-noise road surfaces
By carrying out its new works of expansion and improvement, Autostrade per l’Italia thus guarantees compliance with the most stringent environmental noise rules.
